Why I’m Obsessed with These Table Fires (And You Will Be Too)

I’ll be honest – I was sceptical when I first heard about AromaFires. A fire on your dining table? Seemed a bit gimmicky. But after living with one for months, I’m completely converted. Here’s why these things are brilliant.

The Smoke Problem, Solved

You know that thing where you light a fire and spend half the evening dodging smoke clouds? Yeah, that doesn’t happen here. These run on bio-ethanol, which burns completely clean. No smoke whatsoever.

I’ve got mine going right now in the conservatory whilst I write this. The glass doors are shut, there’s no ventilation, and the air is crystal clear. Try that with a wood burner and you’d be coughing your lungs up.

It means you can stick one anywhere – dining room, bedroom, even the kitchen if you fancy. No chimneys, no smoke alarms going mental, no airing the house out afterwards.

Actually Made Properly

These aren’t some tat from Amazon. They’re made in Burnley by people who clearly know what they’re doing. The wood feels solid, the metalwork’s spot on, and the glass is thick enough that you’re not worried about it shattering.

Mine’s the oak finish and it looks gorgeous – like a piece of furniture you’d actually choose to have out on display. Even when it’s not lit, it doesn’t look out of place on the coffee table.

The Scent Thing Changes Everything

This is where it gets clever. You can drop in little wax melts and the heat from the flames releases the scent. I usually go for something woody in winter – cedar or sandalwood – and it transforms the whole room.

My mate came round last week and spent ten minutes trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. When I showed him it was the fire, he was genuinely impressed. It’s like having a proper log fire smell without any of the hassle.

Take It Anywhere

Best thing about these? You can move them about. I’ve used mine on the garden table for barbecues, brought it inside for dinner parties, even taken it upstairs to the bedroom when I fancied reading by firelight.

Last month we had friends staying and I put it in their room. Made the whole space feel more welcoming than any hotel I’ve been to. They loved it.

Safe as Houses

Look, I was worried at first. Open flame on the dining table with the kids about? But it’s surprisingly sensible. The flame sits well down inside the glass chamber, there’s no spitting or sparking, and if something goes wrong you just pop the lid on to snuff it out.

My seven-year-old knows not to touch it, obviously, but I’m not constantly on edge like I would be with candles dotted about.

Instant Gratification

Pour in the fuel, light it, job done. Takes about ten seconds. No messing about with kindling, no waiting twenty minutes for it to get going, no swearing at damp logs.

Perfect for when you want ambience right now. Spontaneous romantic dinner? Sorted. Mates coming round unexpectedly? No problem.

Does What It Says

The thing is, it just works. Every single time. I’ve never had it refuse to light, never had problems with the fuel, never had any drama whatsoever.

After years of wrestling with our old wood burner – cleaning it, sourcing decent logs, dealing with smoke blowing back down the chimney when the wind’s wrong – this feels like cheating.

It’s one of those purchases that makes you wonder why you waited so long. Simple, effective, and it turns any ordinary evening into something a bit special. What more do you want?
