As a general rule, broadleaf weeds tend to be flat and include plants like dandelions and thistle; grassy weeds grow one leaf at a life, tend to resemble grass and include examples like crabgrass and foxtail; and grass-like weeds are not flat, however, they look like grass in appearance and include plants like wild garlic and onion.

Controlling It

In order to tackle weeds, it is important to start by controlling their growth with the use of a fertilizer that is made in order to kill weeds. For gardens with a small weed problem, it is also possible to skip the chemicals and try to control them by pulling them out from the root. After all, this method may be more time consuming, but it is said to be more effective.

Prevention

Once you have put the motions in place in order to control the growth of weeds, it is important to actively prevent it too. For example, you should ensure that you use regular fertilizers in order to prevent weed growth before it begins and ensure that the plants you want to grow receive as many nutrients as possible.
